Nice.
I’m sure it shouldn’t really matter who ‘gets’ it, and if they get it, and why they get it – but actually, it really does. And it always matters to me that the NZ press gets it. You can take the girl out of Aotearoa …
(and isn’t got an ugly word?)
It’s ‘Nice’ and ‘Passion’ or ‘Passionate’ that bug me… Especially on tv these days, everyone has to be bloody passionate about something… “I’m passionate about this… I’m passionate about that…” The English language is beautiful and has millions of words to use. If I was in charge of compiling the dictionary every year, I’d accidentally hit ‘Delete’ on the aforementioned words. I don’t have a problem with ‘got’.

well just to the left of godzone (or the right, depending on whether you are standing on your head or not) this little bear “got” it too. I finished “Room of Lost Things” a month or so ago and was enraptured by it (not just nice but I did feel passionately about it …). I was interested to see your comment that you found it hard to write. It did not read like that! Thank you for your writing.
